  • Installation view of The Moleskine Project XIII at Harman Projects, San Francisco
Press release

Harman Projects is excited to announce the return of The Moleskine Project. The exhibition marks the thirteenth iteration of the beloved format-driven show where emerging and established artists worldwide are invited to create an original work within the pages of the ubiquitous sketchbook.

Spanning artistic styles and mediums, the exhibition delves into the intimate relationship between artist and sketchbook. It encourages artists to explore new concepts, experiment with different media and styles, while returning to the fundamental process of developing a work of art. Each piece provides an intimate glimpse into the artist’s practice, transforming the single Moleskine spread into a one-of-a-kind work—ranging from graphite sketches to masterfully-rendered oil paintings, embroidered works to paper sculptures.

Originating in 2011 at Spoke Art San Francisco, the exhibition was conceived and co-curated for many years by Rodrigo Luff. Since the debut exhibition at the gallery’s original location on Sutter Street, the Moleskine Project has traveled to One World Observatory in New York City, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Mesa, AZ and been collected into three compendium books.
