Ben Frost

Biography

Ben Frost is an Australian-born, New York-based artist whose work sits at the intersection of pop culture, advertising, and street art. Drawing from the language of consumer branding, comic book aesthetics, and pharmaceutical packaging, Frost creates striking, confrontational images that critique the visual and moral landscape of contemporary consumerism.

He uses familiar cultural icons, from fast food logos to cartoon characters and luxury brand insignias, as vehicles to explore themes of addiction, desire, and identity. Subverting meaning and messages from the mainstream media, his commentary on advertising, entertainment and politics is both confronting and controversial.

His installations and canvases often elicit strong reactions, inviting dialogue around the commodification of the human experience in a media-saturated world.

Ben Frost continues to develop a visual vocabulary that is both playful and provocative, grounded in the language of mass media, but speaking with a voice unmistakably his own.

Exhibiting internationally for the past two decades, Frost’s solo shows span London, New York, Sydney, Los Angeles, Toronto, Singapore, Berlin, Miami, Torino, Bangkok and San Francisco. His work has featured extensively across media institutions such as the BBC, Wall Street Journal, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
