Petites Luxures - "French Fruits"

April 4 - 25, 2020
Overview

Harman Projects is pleased to present French Fruits, a solo exhibition featuring new works by Paris-based artist Petites Luxures. The exhibition will feature the artist’s signature minimalist erotic drawings alongside new cut paper and sculptural work.

Each of Petites Luxures’ works explores sexuality and intimacy, alone and with lovers. The outline of a hip, a stockinged leg, a gesture of a hand - each piece draws the viewer in to imagine the rest of the scene. Often utilizing wordplay, the ink and gouache drawings include French and English quips illuminating the action within the piece.

In addition to the fluid ink drawings, the artist has continued to expand into new mediums while utilizing the same elegant sensibility. New cut paper “theaters” share the similar minimal lines with an added depth to the voyeuristic scenes. Also included, a collaborative embroidery work and a painted replica firearm.

Petites Luxures’ gracefully polished works provide a measure of cheeky levity amidst our current environment, allowing the viewer to revel in moments of closeness, love, lust and sensuality.
